AAES POWER GENERATION | QUALIFICATIONS

Since inception, AAES has been involved in the engineering, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of power plants. The AAES design build team is exceptionally qualified for the design build gas turbine power plants. The AAES team have extensive experience in the engineering, construction and commissioning the gas turbine power plants. AAES team members have extensive experience in the design, engineering, construction, maintenance, and operation of various configurations and designs of power plants. Team members include many former utility employees. Among these are a former PG&E Plant Manager for Hunters Point and Potrero Power Plants, a former PG&E Plant Engineer (Pittsburg Power Plant), a former PG&E Maintenance Department Head and Director of Maintenance and Operations for PG&E's Fossil & Geothermal Fleet, a former PG&E Senior Plant Performance Engineer, and former Commonwealth Edison Facility & Maintenance Engineer. This project team has the required experience and engineering disciplines necessary to provide a successful project within the established budget and schedule.

AAES team brings extensive experience in the design and commissioning of natural gas-fueled simple cycle turbine generation facilities utilizing an LM6000 Enhanced Sprint combustion turbine generator, GE LMS100 and Pratt & Whitney FT-8 aero-derivative. AAES staff includes registered professional civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers currently licensed in California and Washington State. Our staff is familiar with the codes and standards applied to power plant design, such as ASME, ANSI, NFPA, UFC, UBC, CBC, and UMC. Our staff employs the state-of-the-art in CAD technologies to produce 3D "virtual" designs and 2D orthographic construction drawings, and in finite element analysis technologies for piping code/stress analysis and complex structural analysis. Our staff's experience combined with the latest design and analytical technologies has allowed AAES to develop an expertise and efficiency in designing power plants; AAES has performed nearly a two dozen power plant design build in the last ten years with an outlook for several more. AAAES structural engineers have an extensive experience in choosing structural systems, designing them according to the current codes, evaluating the structural integrity of buildings after an earthquake, or determining the ability of a building to support an extra load due to hosting of new heavy equipment.

AAES has an extensive experience in noise calculation and the design of variety of individual buildings and acoustic enclosures and sound wall attenuation. Special care was given to abate the noise produced by the construction activities or by the operation of some facilities, by using sound barriers as trees and sound walls outdoors, and by specifying sound absorbing materials and sound isolating assemblies for the interiors, as well as dealing with sound leaking paths during construction by identifying and sealing them in the field.

AAES has been involved with PG&E's operating and maintenance plans for both the power generation and gas transmission groups. For example, AAES developed a maintenance plan for the Pittsburg Power Plant. The plan included strategy, trends and forecasts, yearly maintenance and operating budget, five years maintenance and operating budget, prioritizing activities based on environmental, safety, reliability, and performance. AAES worked with PG&E staff to identify PG&E's in-house experience vs. third party specialty qualifications for Hunters Point Power Plant and Pittsburg power Plant When deemed necessary for hiring an outside Maintenance & Operation entity (Fire Protection and CO2 System), AAES provided PG&E with the qualification criteria, yearly and five years estimates, O&M specification, reviewed bids, and recommendations. In addition, AAES provided PG&E with O&MI manual to include needed daily, weekly, monthly, yearly maintenance activities and recommended spare parts list/prices, and training of maintenance and operating staff.
